EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Job-seekers: Looking for employment in an AMS-member school or an AMS-affiliated teacher education program? Simply follow this link and choose the geographical location(s) on the map where you would like to apply for a job.

Employers: As a complimentary service, we invite AMS member schools and AMS-affiliated teacher education programs to post employment opportunities online. AMS requires that Full Member schools have Montessori-credentialed lead teachers in all classrooms.  AMS recognizes Montessori credentials from AMS, Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), National Center for Montessori Education (NCME), or other Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) teacher education programs as meeting the standard for Full Member status.

Ads remain online for three months or until the position is filled, whichever comes first.

Employment opportunities are printed on the AMS website as they are submitted. AMS is not responsible for the accuracy of the content.

Corrections to any online employment opportunities should be sent to Bob Bates.

For more information, contact Carla Hofland: 212-358-1250 x302.

Dear AMS Member,

As a service to our members, I would like to share with you the results of our recent Compensation and Benefits Survey. To access the survey results, click here or paste this link into your browser: www.amshq.org/2009$survey.pdf.

The survey was conducted in November and December 2009 to help gain a sense of salaries offered in Montessori schools across the country. New this year, we also collected responses on a number of benefits—paid holidays and personal days, and health, life, dental, and educators liability insurances. We also gathered information on the number of staff members per pupil, administrative staff levels, and classroom assistant hourly wages. Also new this year, we collected information about hourly wages for physical education, music, and foreign language teachers. And, because you asked, there is information on lunch breaks.

The document represents input from 191 of our member schools. Many thanks to all the schools that participated. The strength of the survey is directly related to your support.

To help you navigate more easily through the report, I’ve set up “bookmarks.” You can access them by clicking on the icon that looks like a sheet of paper with a bookmark on it, located to the left of the report once you open the PDF. Each of the bookmarks will take you to the section of your choice.

Sincerely,

Carla Hofland
